This past Friday night I put in a brutal work out because I had missed out almost all last week on cardio. I only managed to run the previous Saturday morning and Wednesday morning due to Habitat for Humanity. Unfortunately I gave my legs too little of a break from all the heavy lifting and during my run early Saturday morning my calves were on FIRE. I felt like they were going to give out on me. After stretching them out around 2 miles, I only manage to make it to 2.75 miles consistently running. I had to alternate walking and running the whole way back to prevent serious pain. I took Sunday off and while I considered running this morning the rain convinced me to stick with one more day of cross-training. I’m really hoping it was just a little over exertion and it’s nothing serious!!
Back on WW for a little recovery and help with maitenence. I’m super unhappy with what I’ve left go despite my running times getting ever faster. Guess you have to take the good with the bad. Going to get back to what I had before – but the proper way this time, not from stress starvation.
Tomorrow I am going to go for a little sample run in my new home town of Waco, Texas!!! I’m excited. Bring on the HEAT!!
Miles – 6.15 miles of Elliptical XT, lifting
QOD – The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking spaces.
Today I just felt good. I looked in the mirror and thought to myself “Dude, I look awesome in this running outfit. I’m going to go kick some ass on this run!!”
And I did. My run felt great – I breezed through my long run for the week. It was nice to be back running in Harrisonburg!! The Runner’s Corner manager walked past me and said nice shoes! My Mizuno running shoes being complimented felt like someone had just compliments me on a sexy pair of heels haha running nerd!!
Mileage – 6.52 miles
QOD – Man imposes his own limitations, don’t set any.
Even though I set my alarm for 7:30am this morning I woke up at 6:45 ready to go! I just felt like and knew I had to go for a run in the morning even though my original plan was to run at night. It was cool, the shade was perfect along my path and I did a couple of different hills I probably haven’t done in almost a year to give my legs something knew to think about.
I also ran backwards for a little bit, which is so much like ice skating or marching backwards. I felt it in so many new muscles and I had to concentrate on my core a lot more to maintain a slight tilt forward rather than backwards. Monday after my run I did agility moves like shuffling, kick cycles, walking lunges and etc at the park and it was SO nice to work out outside! I need to do that more often, the park is such a gorgeous distraction from the temporary pain haha!
I can’t wait to go for a run on the BEACH this weekend!!!
Mileage – 4.5 miles
QOD – Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it!
